If, in the process of filling cylinders, it is identified that a cylinder requires periodic inspection, Guardian Gas (GB) Limited can arrange for this to be accommodated via our Cylinder Inspection Department.

When Does a Cylinder Require Periodic Inspection?
Gas cylinders are subject to periodic inspection requirements to ensure they remain suitable and safe for continued use. When a cylinder is presented to Guardian Gas (GB) Ltd for filling, it may be identified that the cylinder has reached the point at which periodic inspection is required. Where this occurs, Guardian Gas can arrange for the required inspection to be accommodated through its Cylinder Inspection Department. This allows the filling and compliance requirements of applicable cylinders to be managed as part of the overall service provided to our gas supply customers.

Impartial Periodic Inspection
Guardian Gas carries out periodic inspections of applicable seamless steel cylinders in an impartial manner.
We are structured and have documented procedures in place to support impartial periodic inspection in accordance with BS EN ISO 17020:2012 and the applicable regulatory and technical requirements.
Our focus throughout the process is on ensuring that inspection decisions are made consistently and impartially, with safety and compliance at the forefront.
Standards & Inspection Scope
Working to Recognised Requirements
Guardian Gas’s documented procedures cover the periodic inspection of applicable seamless steel receptacles in accordance with relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
National Specification Cylinders
Old (national specification) seamless steel receptacles for use in Great Britain under the Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations (CDG), as amended, with periodic inspection conducted in accordance with BS EN ISO 18119:2018+A1:2021.
TPED Cylinders
Once the applicable UKAS accreditation has been achieved, the scope will also include applicable TPED seamless steel receptacles for use in Great Britain under ADR, with periodic inspection conducted in accordance with BS EN ISO 18119:2018+A1:2021.
VCA Appointment & UKAS Accreditation
Our Current Status
Guardian Gas (GB) Ltd currently holds a temporary appointment by the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) and is in the process of becoming accredited by UKAS as a Type B Inspection Body to conduct periodic inspection of applicable seamless steel cylinders filled by Guardian Gas (GB) Ltd, in accordance with its applicable scope.
